Lock-Up

It’s a good place
to dream,

lock-up.
On the outside,

you spend time
or you pass

time, and
it’s gone,

like 3
children.

But, here
you can

actually do
time, which

is a different thing
altogether.

In another month,
you’ll have to tell

the same story
twice, but

for now, your stories
can change,

even your
birthplace

can drift
from town

to town.
Your marriages

can range
in number

and degrees
of happiness,

as you see fit.
In another month,

you’ll have to tell
the same story

twice, and
once you go free

again,
you’ll have to

think of one
that gets

everything back.
Tell it right

and maybe you’ll
go free again,

this time,
for the first time.
